I have read several articles this morning on colpocleisis and am still very confused. 57120 in CPT says Colpocleisis (Le Fort type). An article I read says Le Fort is used on patients that still have a uterus. For patients without a uterus, this is a total colpocleisis also known as colpectomy (vaginectomy). However, another article says to use the vaginectomy only for oncology cases.
The op note I have is for a post hysterectomy patient with vaginal prolapse. There is no cancer.
So, I am confused as to which I should use.
