I have a patient who had a surgical procedure in the ASC and is in the global period. They came to the office for a redo in the office procedure room, I know I can't use 78 due to location, but since it's during a global period can I use 58?

Hi, I’m not an expert but here are my thoughts. You can use either 78 or 58 during global. In your situation I would use 58 because it’s a repeat of the procedure or subsequent procedure like step-by-step as though it was anticipated that patient Might have additional procedure. So I will use 58. If patient has some complications from the first procedure- complications- and had to be returned to OR to fix that complication, then I would use 78 but if the first procedure did not work out and now patient will have Same procedure again then modifier 58- staged . To me, the key word is whether patient had a complication or not.
