Patient is global for craniotomy for tumor excision. During global period, developed new DX of hydrocephalus. Doctor takes patient to surgery and places VP shunt (CPT 62223)
My question is whether this would be considered unrelated (mod 79) or more extensive than original procedure (mod 58)?
He does not state this is a postop complication.
Thank you.
