I am not very familiar with coding / billing for nerve blocks, in this case, an occipital block. The CPT code is 64405. The physician indicated that he used 0.25cc bupivacaine, 0.25cc xylocaine, and 0.5cc of depo medrol 40 mg /cc. Forgive me if I am asking a crazy question-- Are the bupivacaine, xylocaine, and depo medrol billable as J codes with the 64405 CPT?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

What is the Place of Service? If this is done in the office, and it the office supply of medication then Yes you can bill the J codes. If it is done in facility and it the facilities supply, then No you cannot.
