Hi all!
I am a pain management biller here in NY. I am having such difficulty getting CPT add on code 64484 (50) paid, specifically Magnacare. I know Medicare released guidelines a few years ago stating add on codes, like 64484, should not be reported with -50 instead report twice. This year, 2022, the CPT book states these guidelines as well so CERTAIN carriers began to follow. Not sure WHY they had to change this, why fix something that isn't broken?
I have tried it all !!
64484 x2 (2units no modifier)
64484 RT - 64484 - LT
I finally recv'd partial payment but they only paid one side, not the 150% reimbursement that bilateral procedure should get. I've placed several phone calls and they just tell me refer to the 2022 CPT book for guidelines on how to bill.
Maybe, specifically magnacare, has changed their guidelines and no longer allowing 2 level bilateral epidurals????
