Hello, my team was going back and forth between 69716 and the unlisted code for the implantation of an OSIA300 magnetic system. The issue we are running into is the doctor not attaching the external component (speech processor) at the time of surgery (ASC) and therefore the coder wants to use unlisted since we can’t use modifier 52 in an ASC setting. I’m a new coder and think we still should use 69716 and L8690 as my research is showing the external component is always attached by an audiologist weeks later. I’m not finding anything that says the external part has to be attached “at time of surgery” in order to use 69716. Thoughts?
