Hello all!
I wanted to see what your thoughts were on this. So I'm looking at a diagnosis of midcarpal instability. From what I'm reading, this seems like more of a ligament problem than a joint.... but from what i read about 718.83, it looks like it could also include ligaments too! 728.4 says laxity of ligament.... Does anyone have any suggestions? Would it be 728.4 because of it being specific to the ligament? What are some diagnosis you use for 728.4? We just recently got a hand specialist, so I'm having some difficulties!
Thank you!

Hi Ho! Laxity of a ligament by itself does not tell exactly where the ligament in question is. Also, ligament laxity can definitely cause joint instability. I would use both.
