Patient is seen in the ER. In at 9:00 pm on 9/2, discharged from the ER at 2:00 am on 9/3. Patient is admitted as an inpatient to the same hospital on 9/6. According to the Medicare guidelines, should the ER admission of 9/2 be combined with the inpatient 9/6 account?
