Is it ever appropriate to use an 80 modifier it the PA is assisting an orthopedic surgeon with surgery?
 
I would check with your carriers. My carriers require AS for PA assistance. I only have one carrier that requires modifier 80 and that is Medicaid. You'll receive various responses due to locality guidances.
