When a physician orders both a renal function panel 80069 and Hepatic Function Panel 80076 which both include Albumin(82040) how would you bill that so they don't deny one? I am thinking with 80069 and then list all the labs included in the hepatic individually?

I agree with you JONEST1, this is exactly how I would bill out this very scenario.
If you are denied; be prepared to photocopy your book. The front cover (whatever year you are dealing with) along with a copy of the page(s) of each panel and battle the denial! If/when denied please present it to your biller or denial expert with an explanation to why you are appealing (one of the laboratory procedures from each of the panels overlap each other but we are able to bill the remaining laboratory tests). They will understand your valuable feedback and appreciate the insight for possible future denial experience and any confusion.
