We have noticed lately that the 81002 UA is being denied
when we bill it with 99213 and J0696 (rocephin) as procedure is considered
an ntergral component of the other more global procedures performed.
Can any one give me some insight to this? Thanks.

81002 is no longer a clia waived test. The you have to have a microscope with the UA for medicare to pay anymore. Not sure why this is the case, but we had the same problem at our office. 81000 is only UA clia waived test.
