I often come across coding these two codes together
  • 81015 Urinalysis, microscopic only
  • 81003 Urinalysis, by dip stick or tablet reagent for bilirubin, glucose, hemoglobin, ketones, leukocytes, nitrite, pH, protein, specific gravity, urobilinogen, any number of these constituents; automated, without microscopy
I know these cannot be used together. What is the best way to deal with this? Do I remove the 81015 or the 81003? Or can I combine them and and code
  • 81001 Urinalysis, by dip stick or tablet reagent for bilirubin, glucose, hemoglobin, ketones, leukocytes, nitrite, pH, protein, specific gravity, urobilinogen, any number of these constituents; automated, with microscopy?
