I have a question regarding coding and reimbursement methods for C. Difficile testing.

Infectious agent antigen detection by enzyme immunoassay technique, qualitative or semiquantitative, multiple-step method; Clostridium difficile toxin(s)
The code description above states the A & B toxins are included in one test. What if they perform the test on two different specimens?
If you can bill for multiple specimens, does anyone know of any guidelines for which payer would take units and which would require the 59 modifier? Are there references available? I am in Florida.
