Wiki 87804 Influenza Test - Anthem

Anthem is reimbursing below our costs for 87804. Anyone else having this problem?

I don't have any information on Anthem payment for these services but are you billing for each test performed? If your test kit provides separate results for influenza A and influenza B, 2 units of service should be reported. (See CPT Assistant May 2009 for more information on this.)

If you are reporting the correct number of units and payment is still below cost, recommend verifying that your practice is receiving a fair purchase price and if so, contact Anthem with evidence of the test cost versus payment and request for an increased allowable.

What is the dx code I would use for testing for Influenza A&B?

87804 payment

we have been billing 87804 2 lines with 1 unit on each line and Modifier 59 on second line.we used to get paid till November last year but they have stopped paying after that.They say benefit inclusive.Can anyone help??

We have also been billing 87804 on two lines and we have been getting paid for some and not for others. We also were wondering if we could charge for the reader that reads the tests? 87999 is what was given to us to use, has anyone had any success using this unlisted code?
