I'm trying to look for some clarification (if there is any) on billing only a TC component of 88172 and 88177 when a cytotech renders the immediate study adequacy. We do not bill the PC, but a pathologist is questioning if the hospital can bill just the TC as a stand alone charge.
Dennis Padget seems to state in the Path Manual that it's unclear and your policies should be developed under the counsel or practice attorney/compliance offer.
Just looking to see how other practices handle this if you have experience..
