 We have 2 PhD's and 1 with FACMG also who are doing molecular genetics interpretations and reports. My question is would we use 88291 or 88323. Since we can not bill under the PhD to insurance companies a MD will review and sign off on the reports. The MD is in the practice as well and both doctors will be mentioned in the report.
Any help since I am holding charges so we can bill correct CPT??? Any other suggestions are welcome.

88281 vs 88323

88323 is a consult code and cannot be used if the consult was not ordered. It appears the code you are looking for is the 88291 as long as the MD is supervising the results.
