Could someone tell me the documentation requirement for billing 88342?

the name of the stain you want to bill and the result, is all you will need. Are you billingthe professional comp or tech or both? Either way
stain x was negative, would be enough to bill it.

88342 is for the First Initial Stain and then any other stain that is billed after you should be using the 88341 code. The 88341 code is for any additional stains.
