We are having a big contraversy regarding the wording of this code. Is the provider suppose to stand over the nurse, or MA when they inject the medication? Or is the provider suppose inject the medication? I think that direct supervision means being avilable if there is a reaction. I am interesed to see what this brings as conversation.

I would agree with you; but I could not find anything in writing. If you doc belongs to AMA you may be able to post that question to them.

I believe "direct supervision" simply means that the physician is present in the office/suite. They do not need to observe the actual injection.

Our office interprets this to mean the physician must be on site in the office.
