I work in a behavioral health office and I am very new to billing/coding. We have some patients that are given their injection while they are here seeing their provider and some that come in on the nurse schedule to have it administered. When they see the provider we use 96372 but it is not always reimbursed. When they are just here to see the nurse we use the 99211. I was reading other messages and some people were saying about using the J code, is that something I should add even if the med is paid at the pharmacy and shipped to us? Also, because we are behavioral health, if the insurance I bill for services is strictly a behavioral health plan they usually never pay for the administration. For example, a lot of our patients have CCBH (a local Medical Assistance behavioral health plan) along with a separate MA plan for the medical part of their ins. Can I bill the patients medical insurance separately for the administration and how would I do that without the E&M code attached?
