What is the correct way to charge these IV meds given in the ER when the same drug is given on separate sites different days? Would we charge the Zofran given on 10/1 as 96376 or should it be charged as 96475?
10/1 IV 06:00 ATIVAN RT Wrist 96374
10/1 IV 09:00 ZOFRAN RT Wrist 96375 or 96376
10/2 IV 07:15 ZOFRAN RT Wrist 96376
10/2 IV 08:30 ZOFRAN RT Wrist 96376
10/3 IV 12:15 ZOFRAN LT Wrist 96374-59
Some coders think it should be 75 because it follows a different drug on 10/1 but some others say it should get charged as 96376 because it was given through a different site on 10/3 which is charged as the initial and is considered a same drug regardless of the dates and it’s the same encounter.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
