My Plastic surgeon just became the director of a wound care clinic. He is also overseeing the hyperbaric oxygen treatments. I know of the 99183 code, but can anyone tell me if there are specifics to this coding that I should know about?

I know that for the physician you can only bill this code once per day no matter how many times or how long the patient is in the chamber. The facility can bill per session per day, the physician cannot.

If the physician sees the patient face to face prior to hbo treatment you can bill the appropriate e/m code as well with modifier 25

what is really critical about this type of treatment is diagnosis!
Please make sure you check medicare lcd's for your area.
 
Hyperbaric with office visit

Hello,

I have a question. I'm starting to bill for hyperbaric treatment and office visit. I know modifier 25 will go with the E/M codes, but, can they bill for the E/M code every time the patient is seeing for tratment?
