HI! I am having a hard time justifying why we should bill a 99211 for a COVID swab when we don't have any vitals, or any other elements of a nurse visit. Basically the note is just a means to put the order in for the swab and the pt is swabbed in a parking lot or sent to a lab. The pt might not even be sick, might just need the test preprocedural, school, ect. Is anyone billing 99211 for the swab?

Yes, we are using 99211 for the Covid swab. I did a webinar recently which did say it is correct to use this code for the swab as long as the test was completed. I also am just checking to see if there is anything else I need to know about how to bill this out correctly.
