Would 99211 be used if pt came in for removal of chest catheter? No other documentation is provided other than the procedure note.

99211 is a E&M code so it can only be used if the Pt. gets this service but if the pt. is a scheduled pt. to remove Chest catheter only then you can't use this code. you would only use Removel code. Take it as a procedure.
I hope this helps you!

E/m 99211

The E/M 99211 is considered a nurse visit. It is a visit where the patient may or may not see the physician. It is the lowest level of service provided. I would go with the procedure code for the chest catheter removal. It should specifically state whether the patient was seen for a visit. Hope this helps!

Nurse visits

I work for a Home Health/ Nursing agency. Would I use 99211 for a Skilled nursing visit? I am trying to find the correct code for skilled nursing visits and was not sure.

Thanks,
Lisa M.
