Wiki 99214 for PDT

Does the discussion/treatment plan and scheduling of Photo Dynamic Therapy for treatment of AK's justify a 99214 ?
 
I think it is difficult to generalize based on the information provided. For example, worsening actinic keratosis with 3 ordered labs might justify CPT 99214. I might not be inclined to assign moderate risk for PDT without supporting information. There could be instances when a lower E/M would be appropriate. I would caution against assuming that there will always be one E/M in this situation- there are too many possible variables.
