HELP:: Patient presents to PCP office for numbness in right wrist/forearm inability to move. Provider sending patient to ER. Coding as a 99215. We understand condition could result in loss of functionality (High Risk) but besides instructing to go to the ER the provider does nothing above and beyond. He did not call ahead to ER to discuss nor did he order test or suggest test, did not order meds or suggest meds or comfort measures. Would you say this is a 99212 or does sending to the ER fall under low or moderate risk? Resulting in a 99213 or 99214. Thanks.
