is "more than 30 min" acceptable for 99239?

My understanding is they are to specify the length of time, for example: "38 minutes spent on discharge". I have a note that states it should have a start and stop time listed, but I am currently searching the internet to find what the written requirement are for EHR records for 99239 and I am not finding any luck. One of our providers is only writing this on the hospital card and not putting it in the hospital EHR. I hope someone else will hop on and help us out!

If my providers are spending more than 30 minutes I typically tell them to charge the 99239 and state that greater than 30 minutes was spent on discharge and state what was reviewed/discussed. If they don't document time then it automatically defaults to the lesser charge.
