Wiki 99241-99245 - Hospital outpatient consultant code

Can we still use 99241-99245 for non medicare patients in hospital outpatient setting? If not, why?

Many insurance companies are following Medicare's lead and have stopped recognizing the consultation codes (99241-99245, 99251-99255). You will have to contact each carrier to find out whether or not they still accept these.

HI,

Any insurance carrier which tends to follow medicare guidelines, such an carrier does not recognize consultation CPT. Before billing consultation CPT please query the insurance provider for the same .
