I recently attended a Medicare updates seminar and at this seminar the rep couldn't answer my questions on the following :mad: :

If your services aren't covered by medicare do you have to have an ABN and do you have to bill Medicare?

For chiropractic do you have to have an ABN for cash practice member for each of the dates that they are being seen??

Any help on this would be great. Thanks in advance :D
 
The ABN is a notice given to beneficiaries in Original Medicare to convey that Medicare is not likely to provide coverage in a specific case. “Notifiers” include physicians, providers (including institutional providers like outpatient hospitals), practitioners and suppliers paid under Part B (including independent laboratories), as well as hospice providers and religious non-medical health care institutions (RNHCIs) paid exclusively under Part A.

Bill MC and then transfer the balance to patient after MC denies tha charge. ABN is anly for Medicare, you do not have to have it for cash patients.
