In the OR under General Anesthesia. Our MD did exam only of ears with endoscope and also used operating microscope to verify . He stopped when he used operating microscope and saw that tympanic membrane had healed on its own and no tympanoplasty was needed. Our MD wants to charge a level 3 consult or office visit. He does not want to charge for 69799 unlisted middle ear surgery.
How do we code and bill for this exam under anesthesia of ears when a tympanoplasty was planned but aborted?
