These new codes 10030, 49405 and 49406 confuse me. Patient is post recent gastric sleeve bypass and now has a high-density fluid collection in the left upper quadrant. Reports says from a mid axial line approach employing CT fluoro, a 5-French needle was employed into the fluid collection. This dark bloody fluid was aspirated. Over an amplatz wire following serial dilatation, a 12-French multipurpose drainage catheter is placed and formed. The catheter was sutured securely in place and connected to a Jackson-Pratt bulb for continued drainage. What code would you use? The mention of fluid collection keeps leading me to 10030.
