I am trying to figure out what exactly additional workup plans (specifically referrals) includes in the ED and have been going back and forth with my physicians. They're argument is that after hours/nights/weekends, they can't refer patients to specialists, etc... They're usual sentence goes something like this: "follow-up with your primary care physician" or "follow up with GI Associates at 000-000-0000".

I am on the fence as to whether that can be counted or not.

We codes ALL of the physicians visits and have to query them if we disagree with the level of service they chose. At the end of the day, our level of service over-rides the physician, but, I want to give credit where credit is due.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
