If a patient has a nasal flu mist given and then also recieves another injectable vaccine, I know I need to use the 90473 for the nasal admin code, but what code is appropriate for any 2nd or 3rd injectable vaccine that is given.?
(? 90471 for first and 90472 for any others?)
THANKS! cathy

Thanks for your help,, I am still confused as I have receivd 3 different answers on this.-- What if an adult, got the-- nasal flu mist, also got a Hep B and a MMR..
We would code it as follows?
90660 + 90473
90746 + 90471
90707 + 90472
One person told me yes that was correct above, another told me that I should use the 90474 instead of 90473 with the 90660,, and you are telling me to use the 90472 times 2 units and the 90473..?
I appreciate all the help I can get!!

Hi Cathy:

Your codes are correct except for the flu-mist; use 90474 as your admin code. It can be used in conjunction with 90471 or 90473. It took me forever to figure this one out (in my past) and I don't want you to spend all the time I did on this ;) If you look in your CPT book under 90474, you will see this is correct.
