Can anyone define what counseling is for the new administration codes? I am educating our providers on this and want to make sure they understand what needs to be done in order to bill these codes.

Must be done by the person that rendered the administration (doctor, PA, FNP, etc.), and it's nothing mmore than they're probably already doing...

Just advising the patient what the vaccine will and won't protect against, warning about any possible side effects of the admin (like, redness, or slight fever), and what to do if they experience any more serious side effects. They only need to document that they provided counseling to the patient and/or family. Hope that helps! :)
