I coded a 99222 for the first DOS and the very next day a 99238 was coded. Insurance has denied. Can someone please explain why these cannot be coded a day apart? And what other options I have?

Thanks in advance!

There is no reason why they cannot be billed a day apart and by all intentions these are the correct codes. What insurance is it and what reason did the insurance give for the denial? Was your doctor the admitting doctor or consulting? Was the patient inpatient or observation? If they were observation than you would need to use a different code set.

Can you supply more information from the EOB please!

Thanks,
