Wiki Admit Codes With heart Cath

Just wanted to get a general idea of whether other people are billing admit codes on the same day that a patient has a heart catherization. I have read in some articles that it is acceptable to do so and in others it is not. We do not bill an oupt code with a heart cath but I am wondering if you can for an admit.

If it was an admit for a planned cath---then you can not code an E&M unless there is medical necessity to re-evlauate the patient before proceeding with the planned cath

If it was an emergent admit, with an eval and decision to do a cath, then can code E&M with mod -25
