I recently posted about my employer wanting to bill out consultations at an urgent care clinic even though we are not allowed to bill for that. I let him know I will not do that and he told me not to show up to work if I won't comply. I did actually show up for work only to find out me and all the other billers are fired. He went on this speel about how we are losing money and its just not working out. What should next step be?

I am so terribly sorry for the situation you find yourself in. :(
That is awful and the practice is clearly going to bill fraudulently as soon as they can find someone who will just go along with what they want.

Do they bill Medicare for services? If so, I would think they would be very interested in what is going on and as another posted said, the attorney general may be interested too...

Good luck to you.

I think they covered themselves when it comes to Medicare and Medicaid. The ones I know for a fact are bcbs, aetna, uhc and private insurance. I would also know what legal actions I can take for getting fired over this.
