Please if anybody can help me.I am confused with fracture codes and sequencing. I come up with V54.01 and V54.89 but these are only secondary codes. Didn't mention any complication and ankle syndesmotic area is healed. What should be the primary diagnosis?

POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: RIGHT ANKLE STATUS
POST ORIF WITH RETAINED SYNDESMOTIC SCREW,
LEFT TIBIA STATUS POST EXTERNAL FIXATION WITH
RETAINED HARDWARE.

who sustained a left tibia fracture
and had external fixation and a right ankle ORIF with
syndesmotic screws. He had healed the
syndesmotic area and was complaining of the
external fixator and requesting removal.

The V54 codes are allowable first listed they are not secondary only codes. If the patient has no problems and is here for follow up the the only code(s) you can use are V codes.
