Hi
I am hoping someone can help. What is the difference between abuse, dependence and use for caffeine and/ alcohol.
Example. I have a patient that will have a beer once a week. The only dx code i find is abuse and I an very uncomfortable coding this as an "abuse"
Same with caffeine. If a patient has one coffee a day the only code found is NON dependent "abuse". I don't understand why abuse is used in the terminology for non dependent.
am i using the correct code by coding DX 305.9
Thanks:confused:
