Hi there:

Does anyone know if the preliminary histamine and glycerine testing to qualify a patient as suitable to proceed with allergy skin testing is a considered a separately reportable "test" for purposes of reporting CPT 95040, which is reported per test.

As an example, patient presents for allergy testing (tree, mold, pollen and cat) they perform an initial histamine and glycerine to determine adequacy before proceeding. Would the code be correctly reported with 4 units or 6 units?

Any authoritative sources you could share would be very helpful. I haven't been able to locate anything.

Thanks in advance.
