Anyone have a guideline or a resource I can utilize regarding when coding for Alopecia Areata? Code description is on # of lesion but don't we use it differently for treating AA (Alopecia areata). Shouldn't we use it for # of areas, not by lesion? Help please!

if provider injects and documents only two areas (Arms and chin), should the provider be documenting the # of lesions is each area or consider the #areas injected to determine the code?


if # of areas then it would be CPT 11900, right?

or

if provider injects two areas (Arms and chin),
arm = 3 lesions
chin = 5 lesions
Total of 8 lesions

I would use CPT 11901 ..


Please advice
