This is in regards to inpatient MDM. I have 2 questions:
1. If a provider reviews labs at the initial visit but labs were ordered again by the hospitalist, can my provider say they reviewed labs again at their next visit and it continue to count towards their MDM?
2. If a provider orders labs for a patient and uses that for the MDM, when they come back for their follow-up visit, can the reviewal of labs be counted?

Yes allowed if 2 differ doctor or providers did labs on same date but time spaced between them on same day or for different dx problems. Use modifier 91 on later set of labs if same date. They do have dx Z71.2 code for review of labs but reviewing again might be double dipping if same doc ordered labs in first place. He owes the pt to review tell results.
I hope helped you!:)

Thank you! Someone had told me otherwise and I was second guessing myself.
