In the 1995 guidelines, during medical decision making, under the category for Amount and/or Complexity of Data Reviewed, credit can be given for "Review and summarization of old records and/or obtaining history from someone other than patient and/or discussion of case with another health care provider." Can credit be given if one physician discusses a case with another physician in the same group practice with a different specialty?

There is nothing in the offiicial guidelines that prevents you for giving credit. It only specifies "another health care provider". It does not exclude someone in the same practice.
