Our anesthesiologists are looking at providing anesthesia for colonoscopies and EGDs.

In trying to rsh this, it seems that most payers will not pay for MAC done by the anesthesiologist because it is 'included' in the procedure.

Does anyone have any experience in getting paid for anesthesia (not MAC) by any payers; Medicare, Blue Shield, Blue Cross?

MAC for colonoscopies and EGD's

We do have problems getting paid for this with MDCR as long as there are comorbidities that support medical necessity. Check your LCD's. If there are not, it does not get paid. We have not had issues (yet) with commercial payers.
