I do billing for an anesthesiologist in Texas who performed a cardioversion on a patient having a heart attack. The surgeon asked him to do this because he was able to get to the patient more quickly. Now the question is how to bill for the services to get the best reiumbursement. I don't think we will be able to bill an anesthesia claim since he performed the procedure...thoughts?

Cardioversion is not performed during a heart attack. The services during a heart attack are defibrilliation.
