Does anyone have insight into billing 93355 with the anesthesia service? From what I found on NCCI edit list 93355 is still not allowed to be billed with an anesthesia service. I saw a couple articles online referencing a CMS update in 2021 that allows an anesthesiologist to bill 93355 if they are not performing anesthesia service. I have not been able to find anything on CMS to back this up. If anyone has any insights or links regarding this CPT code it would be a great help.

If the TEE is used for monitoring or performed during a CABG, it's not separately billable.

If the TEE is documented as diagnostic that includes the findings, it's separately billable (not with a CABG). However, 93355 is not the correct code. Usually, TEE is 93312-26-59, 93320-26 (continuous wave), 93325-26 (color flow).

I hope this helps.
