Should a lower extremity angioplasty be billed in addition to a stent placement done on the same day if the angioplasty is only done to pre-dilate the vessel for stent deployment due to severe stenosis? There is currently no CCI edits for these codes. And does anyone know where can I find a written guidelines for this?

Per the CSI Navigator for Interventional Radiology:

"Angioplasty performed solely to dilate or deploy stents is not separately coded."
