Hello,

If a patient is seen for her annual gyn exam/pap smear and is diabetic and has depression, should the diabetes and depression be coded on the claim? We are NOT treating her for either of these conditions.

Thanks,
Angie

I would say if you're not treating her for those conditions, don't code for them. If the patient goes to see the provider who is managing those conditions on the same date and they are within the same group/tax ID, the claim will be denied for the second visit as this won't qualify for concurrent care.
