Scenario:
ED phys sees patient for sore throat. Calls our ENT for an ED consult. Our doc goes to the ED, evaluates pt in ED and performs an I&D of a peritonsillar abscess (also in the ED). Per our doc's consultation note "due to continued pain, patient will be admitted to ward for further IV antibiotics and pain control." Length of stay was from 11-03-10 to 11-04-10.

Can I code for an admit 9922x along with the 42700 I&D on 11-03-10 and a discharge 9923x on 11-04-10?

Do I use POS 21 for all services performed in this scenario?
