I am new to coding and my clinic offers an OB/GYN clinic. I am having trouble understanding how to code the antepartum only visits :( I have instructed my physician to use regular E/M codes for visits 1-3 and visits 4-6 use code 59425 for each visit and 59426 for each visit after 6. We are both confused on how to properly code this. Can someone please help?
 
We don't bill out the antepartum visits until the pt delivers: then we know the total we need to bill for. If the pt has 1 to 3 OB visits then we bill the appropriate E&M code for each visit; if the pt has 4 to 6 OB visits then we bill 59425 with a quantity of 1 (I list all the OB dates in box 19 as many payers require this info); if the pt has 7-13 OB visits then we bill 59426 with a quantity of 1 (put the OB dates in box 19).
