Can you bill AP visits prior to delivery if the pt has changed insurances or do you have to wait till delivery is completed?

If the coverage has already ended, I do not see any reason to hold charges until the delivery. Regardless of the delivery status, the services provided under the prior coverage are all already rendered and accounted for.
In my organization, IF it is realized by the coding or billing departments that coverage has changed, we would bill out 59425/59426 to the first carrier. Typically, it is not realized until the global maternity code is entered, and then our system flags if that coverage has not been in effect for the past 9 months. At that point, it is reviewed for split billing.
